Chianti wine tour: organic or biodynamic?

Stay off the beaten path: natural wines in chianti are a growing trend, join us in a wine and food tour visiting small family owned wineries!

Tour description

Our wine tours in Chianti starts from Florence and, according to the season and small wineries availabilities, may bring you to discover different sub-areas of Chianti: Chianti Classico is the most famous, but we have also selected hidden gems in Chianti Rufina and Chianti Colli Fiorentini or Senesi, so that you can appreciate the differences in the same kind of wine, produced mainly using Sangiovese grapes.
The Chianti wine tour has two option: full or half day. In the first version you will have more hours to spend with us and to meet two wine makers, organic or biodynamic. We also have the time to visit at least one Tuscan historical town or village.
The half-day version includes a visit to a single producer and usually does not allow us to visit more than one country. Both include Tuscan lunch and wine tasting (the full day version two wine tastings). In case you are interested in the half-day version, please contact us at tours@de-gustibus.it.

Itinerary, 5 hours tour, Half Day

From Florence we drive along Chianti to get to Greve in Chianti, the capital of Chianti Classico area, where we enjoy a coffee break and you can visit the Falorni butcher-museum. After that we move to the boutique winery.
Here you will meet the wine maker (and his/her family!) and have the chance to taste his/her wines, visit the wine cellar, have a walk in the vineyards to learn a bit of the know something about the techniques of wine production.
The wine tasting is accompanied by a Tuscan light lunch where normally you will also taste extra virgin olive oil, Tuscan ham and salami, organic vegetables, pasta and a Tuscan traditional dessert.
During the wine tasting you can try the Chianti and Chianti Riserva DOCG wines and often IGT or Super Tuscans ones. Some wine makers also produce rosè, sparkling or white wines (the old, traditional Chianti was made also with 2 white grapes: Trebbiano and Malvasia…) and all of them have different approaches to wine making, but all working in organic or biodynamic way.
We have selected them in last 15 years and we do not hide that they are producers where we buy the wine we drink at home every day or for special occasions. We have no economic return from the eventual sale of their bottles, but for us today they have become friends as well as suppliers, which is why we want to let you know them.
If you share this philosophy, we are waiting for you!

Itinerary, 8 hours tour, Full Day

The full day version is a bit different: the first stop is at the first boutique winery, with visit and tasting, paired with snacks.
Then we move to Greve in Chianti for a coffe and a short walk in the historical square before moving to the second wine farm where you will enjoy the Tuscan lunch with second wine tasting.
Before coming back to Florence a small, hidden gem, Montefioralle castle and hamlet, will be the last stop. The family of Amerigo Vespucci had a palace inside the ancient walls…
Again let us underline that we want you to meet and know our friends wine maker because we think they really do great wines, respecting traditions and nature.
